The Philip Slein Gallery is pleased to present recent paintings by Catherine Howe. Her own words, "I am Nature," describe the way Howe marries form to content in depicting nature. Her use of nature morte, the still-life, echoes the affinity between expressionism and vanitas painting by emphasizing living "in the moment."  Practicing what she preaches, her paintings are wildly gestural, spontaneous, lush depictions of still-life, born from life itself.
