Gallery 210: Saturday, 7 December 2013

Sarah Frost Closing Reception
2:00PM, December 7, 2013

There is a closing reception for Sarah Frost: SITE with a special musical performance by artist musician Tony Renner. Renner will play an eerie electric guitar composition generated from his repeated visits to the gallery. The reception will start at 2:00PM.

Frost often works with discarded or unwanted items, repurposing and bringing new life into the objects, while simultaneously preserving traces of the objects' former utility. Previous installations by Frost include Debris, Qwerty, where thousands of computer keys are compiled to make abstract mosaic panels, and Arsenal, a floating array of frighteningly realistic paper artillery, made by following online YouTube video tutorials.

An imposing structure arcing across the entire gallery, SITE is a curvilinear architectural form comprised of hundreds of bamboo poles bound together with strips of white fabric torn from discarded sheets, curtains and clothing. Inspired by bamboo scaffolding that Frost saw in a trip to China, SITE rests upon a carpet of soil that fills the entire gallery.

The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
