AVERY DANZIGER "Transformations"
Harlem Valley / Wingdale Project
toxic stillness & quiet
Featured will be a new photography series taken from the "Harlem Valley /Wingdale Project." Avery Danziger has taken as his subject the beauty and stillness found in neglected man made environments as they work their way inevitably back to chaos. This project involves a large complex of buildings in New York designed and built in the 20's for use as a psychiatric hospital. It is now abandoned, toxic, and scheduled to be demolished in the near future. These photographs are amazing for the capture of the deterioration as a process and are aesthetically astonishing. Danziger is a nationally and internationally known photographer associated with a number of diverse projects, resulting in truly magnificent works exhibited and collected by several museums and numerous private and corporate clients.
ELLEN GLASGOW "Moving West"
Glasgow's most recent paintings depict the majesty and simple beauty of our western topography, specifically the high plains and mesas of Colorado country. She captures the essence of the scenes in minimal images proclaiming the stillness and glory of those great lands. The vistas, with wonderful horizons, clouds, brush, and lakes are masterfully depicted in these mature works. Ellen Glasgow has been a nationally recognized landscape artist for almost 50 years and her work is included in many private and public collections. The exhibition will feature both her oils and monotypes.
