Art St. Louis: Saturday, 22 January 2011
Save the date and make plans to join us for the opening reception for our upcoming "Beholder" and "Ode" exhibitions on Saturday, January 22, 6-9 p.m.
"Beholder" explores the theme of beauty as well as what is considered unconventionally "beautiful," as in the "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" idiom. Exhibit jurors were Catharine Magel, artist, public art specialist, St. Louis, MO, and Eric Woods, artist, founder/owner, The Firecracker Press, St. Louis, MO.
From 118 artworks submitted by 67 regional artists, Catharine & Eric selected 47 artworks by 36 artists from Missouri & Illinois for the exhibit. View a list of the selected artists here and check out some of the 47 featured works here.
Presented concurrently with the "Beholder" exhibit will be "Ode." This multi-media exhibit was curated by Mark A. Fisher and features works by 14 area artists. The works in this show riff off of John Keats' poem, "Ode on a Grecia Urn." "Ode" will be presented in ASL's North Gallery and Dion Dion Gallery. Learn more about the show here and view images from the show here. Both exhibits are on view January 17-February 24, 2010.
