Duane Reed Gallery presents the latest work of artist Lucy Feller. Exhibition opens Friday, September 10 with a reception that evening 5 – 8pm. The exhibition will run through October 16
Gallery hours: Tuesday through Saturday 10-5pm.
Lucy Feller is known for her digitalized and small intimate customized post cards. Today electronics make communication constantly available and immediate keeping us connected to one another whether we like it or not. To some extend this makes letter writing and post cards a nostalgic and outdated form of communication. With Feller we see the processes reversed. She creates the pieces in this show using updated imaging technology to create nostalgic looking objects. She begins with vintage postcards that evoke scenes and memories from a past era,She then adds images from the modern world including celebrities and personal friends. Feller also utilizes light boxes in her designs. These begin when Feller adds vintage images from her large personal collection of vintage photographs to personal snapshots and photographs. She created this series as the templates for commissioned pieces through which families can create a 21st century family photo record.
