Marbles Yoga Studio and Gallery: Friday, 14 August 2009
Marbles Gallery exhibits "Parallel Reality" abstract landscape paintings by Michael Bolton based upon photographs by J. Roberts from August 3 - 31.
Opening Reception Friday, August 14 from 6-9 p.m. Meet the artists, enjoy a glass of wine.
Michael Bolton pushes away from structure and formalities in his paintings creating original work with color, texture, and flow. He rarely uses a paint brush. Instead, he uses pallet knives and screwdrivers and a variety of medium. Many of his abstracts consist of ordinary house paint, housing caulk, and other everyday materials transformed into a creation to enjoy.
J. Roberts uses photography to show others what she sees. She shoots without flash using Canon 40D on a tripod relying upon color and light to illuminate carefully chosen destinations that allow her to see something new: a ghost town, a fallen city, beautiful beach, countryside or a vacant building complex. Her adrenaline rush comes from discovering places and preserving their beauty for other to see.
