The Duane Reed Gallery is excited to present the work of St. Louis painter, Nancy Rice. The “Dark Reflections” series explores the many layers of visual perception produced by light, shadows and reflections on a variety of objects, images, and experiences. As the empirical world is ordered by geometry, so are my paintings. Each plane or rectangle records a specific time in a single location. Chairs move as conversations end, branches bend and break and we have to determine what is real and what is only a reflection. Nancy Newman Rice employs a pointillist technique to apply paint not only to enhance the intricacy of the images but also the vibrancy of the colors.
