Snowflake/Citystock: Saturday, 2 May 2009

Gary Passanise Diary of Consequence: Works on paper and mixed media constructions

Opening Reception Saturday May 2, 7-10pm

The work selected for the Snowflake exhibit chronicles a significant chapter of my life.

After twenty-two years I closed my New York workspace in March of 2009. Shipping and storing paintings, sculpture, works on paper, books and a variety of collections that became in a sense a diary of work, of life, of time.

As some diaries are written and kept private, these are re-configured as objects. Concealing, or with direct nuance revealing a content of ebb and flow.

What can be read from the constructed diaries is a logic of skewed observations and twisted irony. Relationships made from scrap and literature link pathways short and long, near and distant.

The works on paper range in date from 1989, a selection from the late summer of 2008 and works completed in the last days of April 2009.

Presented is a continuing dialogue of drawing and constructions as the conceptual observation of all possibilities.
