Mary Sprague: Trees
Kreg Kallenberger

The Duane Reed Gallery is pleased to present the latest works of acclaimed painter and draftsman, Mary Sprague, and the latest works of internationally acclaimed glass artist, Kreg Kallenberger. The exhibitions open Friday, September 12th with a reception to meet the artists that evening from 5 – 8 pm.

Sprague’s expansive repertoire of style and content has included notable studies of mysterious domestic interiors, vibrant equestrians, and expressive chickens with a certain amount of extra cluck. Trees features numerous spontaneous, yet beautifully rendered drawings of natural forms. These intimate sketches invite the viewer onto the scene of one of Mary’s many cross-country trips.

Kreg Kallenberger has worked primarily in glass for the past 35 years. He has explored a progression of series, each aiming to create forms that are sculpturally compelling, with the natural properties of glass serving that end rather than overwhelming the form. “Much of my most recent work has focused on the theme of landscape. I have attempted not only to convey a visual image but also to express and suggest the experience of the landscape. These pieces have been inspired by such dramatic environments as the ice-encrusted mountains of Greenland and the red-rock towers of Sedona, Arizona, as well as the quieter landscape of the Osage Hills near my home.

Gallery hours: Tuesday through Friday 10-5pm, Saturday 12-4pm.
