Sandi Shapiro & Jeff Krolick: Organic/Inorganic Lines
The current exhibit ORGANIC/INORGANIC LINES is a combined exhibition of work by Sandi Shapiro and Jeff Krolick that explores the use of line found in nature and from man made wire. Sandi Shapiro says, "I have always been fascinated and interested with these colorful wires…I see my work pushing the material in new directions…They are always loosely preplanned but never resolve into my original idea…Some of my sculptures have worlds inside their forms." In talking about the series of photographs, Jeff Krolick stated, "These images are not landscapes in the traditional sense but rather, appropriations of the seasonal textures, colors and shapes form a unique locale – Emigrant Lake, Oregon. By squaring these elements within the camera frame, an order is highlighted which weds the local gestalt of a small niche of the landscape with the photographer's search for a familiar compositional order or in rare instances his discovery of a previously unrecognized or unappreciated natural order."
Opening Reception: Friday, Sep. 5, 2008 – 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Exhibition: Sep. 5 – 26, 2008
Gallery Hours: Monday- Wednesday - Thursday 9:30 a.m.- 4:00p.m., Tuesday 9:30 a.m. – 7 p.m., Friday 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m., Saturday 12 – 4 p.m.
