Marbles Gallery exhibits ILLUMINE, mixed media abstract paintings by Brittany Lueken
Opening Reception Saturday, July 12, 2008 from 6-9 p.m.
Lueken's exhibition includes an impressive diversity in style, while obvious these are works of one mind. The lush colors coupled with intricate detail or drawing often suggest otherworldly settings. Her artworks include large, lively-colored canvases, delicate black and white drawings, and small collages using gauche and the remnants of an Indian calendar. A set of small, black canvases appear to be a collection of images from another universe. Quiet all around yet massive and complex at or above the surface, Lueken's planets are even more mysterious than those beyond the telescope.
Exhibiting July 1-31. Open Friday and Saturday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Mondays 1-3 p.m. Call 314.621.4744 to confirm additional hours or for an appointment
