Craft Alliance: Friday, 9 November 2007

The Goblet Redefined
Public Opening Reception - Friday, November 9, 6-8pm
November 9 – December 24

In a new exhibition at Craft Alliance, discover that the history of goblets is synonymous with celebration! The Goblet Redefined, curated by Luanne Rimel and Stefanie Kirkland of Craft Alliance, explores the historical form of the goblet in contemporary expression. “Throughout history goblets have been used for drinking during ceremonial events and were created by the most skilled artisans of the time. For this exhibition Craft Alliance has invited glass and metal artists to explore and redefine the goblet,” state curators Rimel and Kirkland.

The Goblet Redefined features the glass work of Sam Stang, Kaeko Maehata and Tony Cray, and metal work by Michael Gleason, Paulette Myers, and John Baltrushunas.

Starting November 19, holiday gallery hours are Monday through Wednesday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Craft Alliance is a nonprofit organization in the Delmar Loop dedicated to providing inspiration and education in fine contemporary craft to the entire community through exhibitions, sales and instruction. For more information about the exhibits, please call Craft Alliance at (314)725-1177 or visit www.craftalliance.org. 6640 Delmar, University City.
