Framations Gallery: Saturday, 12 May 2007

Framations Gallery is proud to present two very diverse new exhibits exploring the art of the portrait. There will be an Opening Reception on Saturday, May 12 from 6-9 pm. The reception is free and open to the public. Both will run through June 3, 2007.

Objects of Affection, is an exhibition of still lifes and portraits by artist Lisa Ober. The pieces in this exhibit will be a selection of oil and pastel portraits reminiscent of classical realism as well as a collection of recent still lifes. The range of still lifes explore a certain dry wit where very formal painting is labeled with a more witty, casual title, intended to make the viewer look twice. This exhibit will also feature an audio tour starting at the reception that will explore the work of Lisa Ober.

Behind the Scenes is a study of the people behind the collective camera of the O'Fallon Photography Club. In this exhibit, the participating members have each taken a self-portrait, giving the public a glimpse into the individuality of some of our local amateur and professional photographers. So often their work represents them through other imagery, rather than showing a visual of themselves. This exhibit offers an opportunity to see how a photographer sees themselves through the camera they use to capture others. The exhibit shows diversity in the styles and methods used to capture a self image by use of a camera.

Framations Gallery is located at 218 North Main Street, St. Charles, MO 63301. The gallery is open Tuesday Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 12-5.
