In conjunction with the opening of Reality Bites the Museum is hosting a roundtable discussion among artists and critics that will explore a range of issues presented in the exhibition. The panel will include artists Rudolf Herz, Christian Jankowski, and Via Lewandowsky in conversation with critics Sabine Eckmann, Diedrich Diederichsen, and Lutz Koepnick. Seating is limited
The first exhibition of its kind, Reality Bites: Making Avant-garde Art in Post-Wall Germany presents the work of over thirty contemporary artists who created art in Germany since 1989. Intentionally international in scope and
with an eye to exploring new meanings of the avant-garde, this exhibition surveys varied attempts to challenge the relationship between art and everyday German life since the fall of the Berlin Wall.
