Matters at Hand: Contemporary Narrative Tapestry
Curated by Deann Rubin
Please join us at Craft Alliance this Friday night, January 12, from 6-8pm for the opening of Matters at Hand: Contemporary Narrative Tapestry.
Hand-woven tapestry, at its earliest, was a graphic medium used for recording and communicating stories on the human experience. This exhibition presents artists whose work reflects a dialog with the human/social condition and blends the traditional technique of tapestry
weaving with contemporary ideas. Deann Rubin, the curator, is a St. Louis based tapestry artist, exhibits nationally and studied with the late master craftsperson, Muriel Nezhnie.
Opening concurrently, local fiber artist Cathy McBride in the David and Jacqueline Charak Gallery.
